Harry Potter and Honoring Your True Path

By | January 16, 2018

Wow! The latest Harry Potter film, “Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince,”  was spectacular!

I don’t know about you but I absolutely love the story of Harry Potter and how this young man’s journey has been a part of our lives for the past 10 years.  I get so excited when I think about that latest film that just came out at 12 midnight on July 15Th 2009.  It gives me goose bumps when I look at how many times I have seen the last three films and how my own journey has had many of the same elements as Harry’s journey!  This story is the classic Orphan-child story where the orphan must go on to fulfill his destiny and stake his place in the world.  And usually the orphan child has gifts and talents that he/she must learn to give to the world, once they can feel safe enough to give of themselves vs. always trying to hide.

I think about the incredible gift J.K. Rowling has given us by telling this classic story and how the books and stories and films will be told for many, many years to come!  I am so grateful that she chose to follow her heart and work as hard as she must have to create such an epic saga!  I love what she has to share with the world but often times I am even more fascinated with the story behind the writer, for writers truly use their imagination to create something from nothing!  I am sure that this idea of this story was germinating in her mind for years before she actually decided to put pen to paper.  But the fact that she went through the challenges and struggles of being a writer (and a children’s writer at that when people left and right were telling her, there’s no money in children’s books) HA!  She sure showed them. Her books have gone on to gross millions of dollars worldwide!  And why?  Well, because she has created a story that is TIMELESS, that is full of metaphor and meaning and that people like myself, will never tire of!  And she did all of this by listening to that inner-still voice inside that said she had something meaningful and entertaining to offer the world.  Now, that’s magic if you ask me.

The point here is to remember to look at these people as examples of what is possible.  Yes, you can write the book you’ve always wanted to write.

-Yes, you can create the website you have always wanted to create.

-Yes, You can create a story that affects the lives of millions of others.

-Yes, you can be the best musician in your family and start a band.

-Yes, you can be and do anything your heart desires!

We live in the land of opportunity (esp. for those of us in America).  Right there, you should know that there is no room for feeling sorry for yourself or like you can’t get on in this world.  That’s a bunch of hogwash! -Something my Mom would say.  Now, next time you see a Harry Potter book or film, stop and think about how this woman chose to follow her heart and honor the path she was meant to take.  And that she is an example to you that Yes, it can be done!  But you’ve got to be fearless!
